Join us today when we at Iron-Cast celebrate yet another 10th anniversary release, this time being Machine Head's "The Blackening" (released 27.March.2007). Leaked online two weeks before its release, "The Blackening" still became Machine Head's highest charting release in the US, and earned the band a Grammy nomination. But what of this album? Is it an over-the-top ragefest that rivals Slayer at their best, or is it a half-assed effort from a trend band ripping off 90's Pantera and 80's Metallica? Tune in to find out.

Iron-Cast continues our series of "Episodes from the Crypt", where we delve into the darker side of life... death, goth, horror and the occult. So far, we brought you death and goth, and this week we're bringing you horror in the form of the 1984 sophomore release by Mercyful Fate, "Don't Break the Oath". This album has been considered a landmark album and has been one of the more influential albums for the black metal genre. But what of this album? Is it arguably the best extreme metal album ever, or is it overly produced second-rate prog metal with falsettos? Tune in to find out.
